My name is Angely Martinez and I am an award-winning jewelry designer and metalsmith based in New York City. My work is influenced by the beauties of nature and the world of fantasy with a touch of Romanticism and the Baroque. These are themes I've been obsessed with since childhood.

With my experiences in the industry on the bench, experimentation with different materials, and museum trips, my work continues to evolve and I can't wait to see what's next.

Ethos:

I do what I want and what speaks to me. My ideas come from a variety of sources and jewelry is the medium I use to bring them to life.

Process:

I make my jewelry primarily by hand with the assistance of artisans in NYC's Diamond District. Whether it is sketching an idea, experimenting  with a material, fabricating from scratch or working with a CAD designer, I use the best tools and technique that it my vision.

Inspiration:

I draw inspiration from the Baroque period,  Rococo, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Museum Walks, and films.  My favorite artists and designers are Thierry Mugler, Alexander McQueen, Fragonard, Rembrandt, and Erte.

Community:

In 2020, I authored the BIPOC Open Letter along with 30+ jewelers, detailing guidelines and a call-to-action for opportunities to be created for BIPOC Jewelers and Professionals in our industry.
