The Making Of: The Union Earrings

The Making Of: The Union Earrings

In this series leading up to the launch of FERTILE ASCENSION, my first gold and diamond collection, I will be discussing the initial 5-piece collection in detail, from how it was designed, to how it was made.

Next up is The Union Earrings. This pair of earrings represents the marriage stage, a partnership, the union of two souls sharing their life together. Earrings are perfect from day to night and for a variety of other occasions.

In the beginning, the earrings were going to be hoops but I ended up going a rabbit hole of variations.

I created several prototypes in sterling silver, until I reached the final piece.

But for this design, I had a new challenge to overcome. The diamonds were not a matching pair, with one being slightly larger than the other, but I made it my job to make them match.

The matching pair was realized in CAD, by Andrea Rosales-Barcalcel. After several revisions and 2 rounds of 3D printed prototypes, the earrings were born.

The earrings were then cast in 14K yellow gold, cleaned, stone set and polish between the NYC's Diamond District and my studio.
